Dawna De Silva – Warring with Wisdom

Are you experiencing battle fatigue? Learb how to discern the attack of the enemy and how to counter it and flourish instead. Learn how to protect yourself from unwanted assault.

Dawna De Silva is the founder and co-leader of Bethel Sozo, the inner healing and deliverance ministry of Bethel Church. She lives in Redding, California where she oversees Bethel’s Transformation Centre. Dawna travels extensively empowering and equipping the church to walk in freedom and wholeness of body, soul and spirit. Dawna has published several books, manuals and curricula as well as featuring in TV broadcasts. One of her core teachings on Shifting Atmospheres is also available as an App.

Teresa Liebscher – Why Inner Healing?

People totally understand physically healing, not only the need but the desire to be physically healed. People also include mental issues with the need and desire for healing.

But inner healing is a foreign concept to many. Such people  question the need for inner healing, reasoning that counselling or mentoring is enough. I believe that a lot of what people deal with, both physically and mentally can be because of what has built up and is stored inside of people. People’s actions and decisions can be guided even determined by what is going on inside: their emotions, feelings, struggles that live inside us. Inner healing can be very effective at getting to those deep seated issues.

Teresa Liebscher is the co-leader of Bethel Sozo alongside Dawna De Silva. Teresa has been training Bethel Sozo internationally since 1997 and has responsibility for overseeing the International Sozo network. The Shabar ministry was created and founded by Teresa in 2006 in response to serving people with “shattered minds”. Teresa’s own life experiences and her journey to wholeness bring great authority to the ministry.

Margaret Nagib – Closing the “Fifth door”

Addressing Shame in the Sozo Session to Bring Breakthrough with Addictions & Eating Disorders.
A deep sense of shame often underlies and drives eating disorders and substance abuse. When these two disorders co-occur, the level of shame intensifies. The presentation highlights shame as a key psychological and spiritual force underlying and perpetuating the cyclical nature of these disorders. Sozo facilitators will learn how to identify and help individuals break the patterns of shame that drive their destructive behaviors.

Dr Margaret Nagib is a clinical psychologist specialising in Christian counseling, inner-healing and in the treatment of eating disorders, trauma, self-injury and mood disorders. She received her doctorate in clinical psychology from Wheaton College and has been working in the field of Christian psychology since 1998. Margaret has had the opportunity to see first-hand how Sozo brings healing and hope to even the most serious of psychological problems. As an expert in providing treatment from a spiritual perspective, Margaret is an author, speaker, and has published several articles and has been featured in numerous radio and TV broadcasts. She works with pastors and leaders from around the world to ignite emotional health in the body of Christ through pastoral leadership counseling and wholeness conferences. Margaret’s open & accessible style brings together the spiritual and psychological equipping both professional and lay groups.

Katy Barsch – Ageing well

It will be applicable to people of all ages, because the decisions you make now affect how you live the rest of your life.

Katy loves painting using the media of watercolour and is active at Bethel church doing prophetic art. Katy has jointly authored the books “Educational Sozo” and “Praying For The Brain.” One of the more exciting things she has been doing with sozo tools is applying the techniques with students who have learning disabilities or poor academic performance.

Tandy Ruoff – Children’s Sozo

“What if the children could experience the freedom I just experienced in my Sozo? What if they lived their lives free of guilt and shame? What if they could go to the Godhead to hear truth when they are getting beat up by lies.”
And so it was that Children’s Sozo was born. In this seminar Tandy will show you how doing a Sozo with a child is different, how to engage and communicate with a child using appropriate Sozo tools – why you never take a child’s wall down!
Why it is important to have a Sozo with the parents before you do one with a child. If you have an interest in children’s work or have them living in your house – this seminar will equip you to bring them into greater freedom.

There will be three sessions throughout the day, if you are an experienced first and want to see Children’s Sozo added to the Sozo ministry running at your church this training will enable you to get the building blocks in place so we can support you to see your ministry flourish. However, if you are a parent/grandparent or guardian and you want to learn how to support your child or teenager through fear, anxiety, anger issues or just to see them connected more fully with the Godhead, then come and learn how to use the Children’s Sozo tools in your home.

Tandy Ruoff is married to Mark, a mother of four and author of “Encountering God with your senses.” She has been involved in Sozo ministry, leading a team, mentoring and is now facilitator for Children’s Sozo UK. Tandy has been involved in children’s ministry for over 20 years and is passionate for children to know that they have access to the heavenly realms to encounter and experience the love of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Tandy has a specific desire for children with SEND to be able to access the Sozo tools in a way that can truly minister to them individually. Tandy believes families can see incredible transformation occur as parents choose to daily incorporate Sozo tools into their parenting. Tandy is currently writing a manual on “sozo for families” and hopes to release it in 2022.

Teresa Liebscher & Ruth Burnham – Shabar
Ruth Burnham

Shabar is the Greek word for “broken hearted” which can also be translated shattered, broken into pieces, found in Isiah 61 v1. In this seminar you will learn information about the Shabar process for ministering to those who have “shattered minds”. The goal of the Shabar ministry is to bring information, hope, and some if not complete healing to those who are broken inside and struggling to hold on to their healing. Shabar would not typically be the first inner healing tool you would use, but it is effective for those who have difficulty dealing with strong defensive mechanisms/strong walls and those struggling to holding onto their freedom. During this informal time together there will be opportunity to ask questions and discuss (anonymously) ministry experiences.

Teresa is the co-leader of Bethel Sozo alongside Dawna De Silva. Teresa has been training Bethel Sozo internationally since 1997 and has responsibility for overseeing the International Sozo network. The Shabar ministry was created and founded by Teresa in 2006 in response to serving people with “shattered minds”. Ruth is a Licensed Lay Minister in the Anglican Diocese of Rochester. Ruth is an approved Bethel Sozo trainer. She has been facilitating Bethel Sozo UK and training churches alongside Christine and David for a number of years having previously set up and led a team in the south east region since 2008. Priscilla Smith, Jo Fredricks & Anju Ebanks – Art Sozo Workshop

Art Sozo is a unique take on the Sozo process, blending traditional Sozo inner-healing tools with the freedom of art as a way to connect with God and heal wounds and lies. Through the Art Sozo Workshop, God moves powerfully and touches people’s hearts, releasing creativity and bringing lasting healing.

If you sign-up for this workshop you will need to add the Art Sozo ticket to your booking to cover the £10 cost of materials for this workshop.

Priscilla first came across the sozo ministry in 2008 and after her first encounter she was hooked.  Over the ensuing years she has slowly built a sozo team in her small village church near York and loves to watch God bringing healing and freedom to individuals. She is now a facilitator and enjoys mentoring local teams.  She first heard of art sozo when doing a short internship at the Transformation Centre at Bethel but did not experience it until Gail Spooner came to the UK.  She has since hosted a training and workshop by Gail in Yorkshire and with her team member Ella Judson enjoyed leading as many Art Sozo workshops as she could fit in before Covid hit. She sees Art Sozo as a wonderful way in for those who are apprehensive of having an individual sozo session.

Jo has been involved in Sozo Teams for many years and was instrumental in bringing Gail Spooner, creator of Art Sozo to the UK in 2016 for the first Art Sozo Training course and Workshop outside of the USA.  Following this successful event, which was the largest Art Sozo training course ever held, Jo has organised and accompanied Gail on many Art Sozo Training courses and workshops in the UK.

Anju has been involved with inner healing for over 15 years.  She trained in the Sozo ministry with Helen Balfour, Christ Church Peckham, this training continued during her time at Bethel’s Ministry School.  She met Gail Spooner during her time in Redding CA and fell in love with Art Sozo; she delivered Art Sozo with Gail during her time at Bethel and creatively contributed towards an Art Sozo manual.  Anju has set up a Sozo team and delivered Art Sozo in her hometown in the UK.

Sozo in other ministries
  • Spirit Cafe – with Lori Arnott-Lawlor & Jess Lawlor

Lori Arnott Lawlor is the daughter of John Arnott from the Toronto Revival, and has been a pastor herself for over 20 years in the UK. Her church in Birmingham had one of the first Sozo teams in the UK and has since trained many Sozo teams both in the UK and abroad. She is also the founder of Spirit Cafe, a church based prophetic evangelism model which has been adopted by churches in many countries of the world, including the UK, Germany, Canada, USA, Russia, Ukraine, and Kenya and continues to gather momentum. In a Spirit Cafe, Sozo tools are often used in ‘bite size pieces’, to facilitate people who don’t know Jesus yet, having real encounters with Him. She is passionate about emboldening churches and believers with kingdom keys and principles that create the expectation of God encounters.  She wasn’t born with it, but Lori now carries a burning heart for evangelism and specialises in launching the ‘Church’ into the Father’s harvest field

  • Marriage Preparation – with Darrell & Anthea Cocup and Liz Gregg.
Anthea and Darrell Cocup

We believe that if every couple planning on getting married completed a marriage preparation course there would be far fewer marital problems and, therefore, divorces. “Starting Out” is the Sozo for Couple’s marriage preparation manual and the basis for the Starting Out course. What differentiates this from other marriage preparation courses is the use “Sozo Stops”, points at which the couple are asked to question Father God as to the origin and reason for unhealthy beliefs or negative behaviours they are potentially carrying into their marriage. This seminar will look at some of the questions and discussion points from the manual, and how the Sozo tools are pivotal to the success of the course.

Darrell and Anthea have been involved in Sozo since 2009 and lead the Sozo team at Life Church Bath. They are UK Facilitators and trainers. With Liz Gregg they are founders of the Sozo for Couples ministry, launched at the Sozo Summit in Redding in November 2017. Before Covid they spent much of their time travelling overseas, equipping Sozo teams and mentoring them. Their passion is to see healthy, happy, fulfilled marriages. Darrell is author of “Wonderfully Free” the 31 day post-Sozo devotional journal and co-author of “Starting Out”, “Going Deeper” and, of course, the Sozo for Couple’s manual.

  • Sozo principles in prison & with young offenders – with Tandy Ruoff

“Help me Jesus to really love people!” Is the prayer I prayed in 2017 as I started my ordination training. What followed was three years of the Lord breaking me and shaping me into a women who could love with no judgement or prejudice. I never dreamed of becoming a prison Chaplain and did not start out my ordination journey thinking I would end up working in a prison either, however God knew and Sozo has been foundational in my own personal journey to freedom as well as a tool in my work belt.
This seminar I will be exploring Gods heart for the poor and the marginalised and sharing stories of how we can use Sozo tools to minister to those who are unchurched and whose language and life realities are so far removed from the traditional Church experience we perhaps find ourselves part of.

Tandy is married to Mark, a mother of four and author of “Encountering God with your senses.” She has been involved in Sozo ministry, leading a team, mentoring and is now facilitator for Children’s Sozo UK. Worship

Worship will be led by Helen & Matt Gallagher with a band featuring some new and some familiar faces. While they have led worship at large events, written songs and released CDs, that is not why we have invited them. We love partnering with them because of their passion for worship in the local church, training, equipping and mentoring emerging worship leaders.

Catering

There will be tea, coffee pastries / biscuits available on arrival each day and during all breaks.

While there are local places to eat in Milton Keynes, some delegates have appreciated being able to stay in the venue & meet people over food. This year we will be offering a paid for option of an onsite full buffet for Friday lunchtime, Friday evening & Saturday lunchtime. We will email sample menu details & the chance to pre-book some or all of these options nearer the time.

You are also free to bring your own food.

Mums and Babies

There will be a room set aside for mums & babies. You are welcome to be with your little one in the main auditorium and use the set aside room as & when you or your little one need a quiet place.
There are no separate facilities available for toddlers or children.

Terms and conditions

In the highly unlikely event that such gatherings become illegal or International travel is restricted we will move the conference to a later date. We are asking you to share that risk with us because we will not be offering refunds – we will transfer your booking to the new date. You will also be able to transfer your place to another person. Given budgetary considerations & deposits we will incur – giving refunds would bankrupt us.
This is the risk that we are asking you to share with us; that the conference date might move or some speakers might change.
